What is Integrated Curriculum?

An integrated curriculum is a way of teaching that connects different subject like math, science, social studies, and other subjects into one comprehensive learning way. This helps students to understand how different matters are related to each other and it make useful learning.  For example, "Water", it is natural resource and very essential to human being.  Water's theme can use in different subjects that helps to explore meaningful and rich learning experience as compare to traditional based learning practices.  Hence, Integrated curriculum combine the multiples subject into comprehensive learning . So it emphasizes to interconnection learning that provides deeper understand. 


Integrated curriculum is very popular approach in twentieth century. It is student centered experimental learning, it has flexibility in method of implementation. It is concerned for the cognitive and affective domains. Implementation of integrated curriculum may require challenging shifts in teacher practices, integrated curriculum approach increase student engagement and cultivate positive attitudes and behaviors.
